Poorly performing teams often attract attention when issues of trust and cohesion arise \u2014 and remedies are sought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, these problems cannot be solved by addressing the symptoms alone. The real work lies in examining the foundational structure of how a team functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The process we follow in Team Formation involves defining the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/th1nk.co.za\/people\/team-maping\/\">Team mapping <\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vision<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Values and behaviours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Goals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Decision-making processes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Roles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Routines<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communication framework and tools<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Team name<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The formation process therefore establishes the ground rules for the team. It helps team members understand where others are coming from and how they are <a href=\"https:\/\/th1nk.co.za\/people\/personality\/\">wired<\/a> \u2014 right from the start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All outputs from the team formation process are documented. This is then built into a broader process that covers everything from the onboarding of new team members to the offboarding of team members (whether through promotion, reassignment, resignation, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the team has completed the formation process, we look at a few key starting points:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How to conduct one-on-ones<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to establish team cadence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The five levels of meeting maturity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From there, we begin the process of getting the team operational.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We work with the team regularly to address people-related challenges, adopt effective ways of working, and make the best use of productivity toolsets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next, we move into more complex work \u2014 using these tools to explore areas such as velocity, team road mapping, dependency
